My Journey in Art

A short snippet from the retrospective exhibition 2022
A 60 years journey in art, of experiences, wisdom and life

The Primary inspiration for my art is my love of the natural world seeking to capture the emotions evoked by the undisturbed places. I create a meditative mood in my water colour landscapes. I strive to draw the viewer into experience the calm, and to know the untamed beauty of my favourite places. I have always been fascinated with the delicate interactions of the nature. Late Shri Krishna Chaitanya, an eminent art critic of The Hindustan Times wrote about my works:- The landscapes in water colour are yielding pleasant panoramas of the earth after a shower. Shri Keshav Malik, a very senior eminent art critic, also wrote that Rajendra’s landscapes really hypnotises that delights the sage viewer. His mind is really in tune with nature.

My working process of landscape begins from the motif from the observation and contemplation of weather, water, mountains, geology, music and the imprint of history upon the landscape. In the studio, initial experiences are revisited through memory, disassembled and reformed through the effort of landscape. These landscapes I deeply felt, they refresh my vision by constantly renewing my intimate contacts with nature, and they charge my fabulous memory.
